The name on everyone's lips is, "Lady Gaga". Born Stefani Joanne Angelina, GaGa has become a very popular household name whether it be her music or her extreme fashion sense, Lady GaGa never fails to hit the newspaper headlines.
I believe that she is an iconic figure within the fashion world as she has dressed from one scale of the spectrum to another, her recent was that of a "Meat Dress" which GaGa wore for the VMA's 2010. Designed by non other than Franc Fernandez. He also designed the "Meat Bikini" which Lady GaGa wore for an issue of Vogue Hommes Japan; infuriating the Peta Followers. Was this a step too far?
Regardless of this, I believe that Lady GaGa has a Passion For Fashion as well as making a statement. One of my personal favorite outfits has been the design of Thierry Mugler's Crystal encrusted mini dress. Lady GaGa rocked out both versions, The White at American Music Awards afterparty 2008 and The Black at the O2 Arena in London in 2009.
I feel that the Late Alexander Mcqueen was also a heavy influence on GaGa's style. Dressing GaGa put Mcqueen's designs on the map, to show the world he wasn't just an amateur designer but a talanted and raw creator in the world of fashion. He became known for his design input for Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance" video. Wearing Mcqueen from head to toe; GaGa changed high fashion into a movement through music. As well as this, Mcqueen designed GaGa's famous Red Lace atire seen at the 2009 MTV VMA's while accepting an award for Best New Artist. This showed the world that Lady GaGa was here to stay and change the dynamics of Fashion & Music.
Another fave look is that of the famous "News Print Catsuit" worn on stage while GaGa performed in Sydney. The catsuit had cuttings from headlines of the British Tabloid, The Sun which in return showed the world that regardless of all the media attention to her style, GaGa is an iconic musical figure.
I feel that without this transition into the musical and fashion world, celebrities would just look rather ordinary or play it safe with the "Little Black Dress" number. But with Lady GaGa's venture into both industries, it has upstaged many famous Pop Divas such as Beyonce and Rhianna to change they're look and flaunt it anytime, anywhere AND for that I Salute You Lady GaGa!

London Fashion Week S/S '11 - Paul Costelloe
It is that time of year again, as Britain embraces itself for what could be a very nippy winter; However eager fashionista's got ready for LFW's Spring/Summer Collection of 2011. London Fashion Week started off with non other than Paul Costelloe's S/S '11 Collection. As this was my very first time at such a prestigious event in the History of the Fashion World, I was pretty nervous!
However, I was surprised to spark up a conversation with a lady next to me who had no profession in the fashion industry but had been to see Paul Costelloe's previous 4 shows. This is when I realised, the World of Fashion is more like a unity in bringing people from different backgrounds together no matter how little fashion knowledge they may have.
Each Model had they're own way of "Strutting they're stuff" along the catwalk including the Men in their skinny suits! The Collection consisted of floral prints, 60's subtle, but psychedelic prints, contrasting silks as well as metallics and monochrome. It is clear to see that all though Paul Costelloe perceives an imagine of designing tailored attire, his S/S '11 collection was flamboyant in a sleek way.
My Fave designs were the Maxi dresses teamed with a metallic leather jacket as well as Costelloe's collection of brocade mini dresses as they gave definition to the models figures.
The Male models wore tailored shirts with floral prints, skinny suits as well as city shorts teamed with a fitted blazer to give a preppy edge to the smart look of Costelloe's designs. My Fave design of the male collection was definitely the men in suits... <3 as well as his attention to detail of brocade ties with a plain three-peice suit with brogue shoes.
Costelloe's Spring/Summer Collection may come across as quite light and airy as he uses lots of white and cream, however as he added metallics and contracting colours along with each design; it looks like we're in for a very elegant techno summer!
London Fashion Week as a whole was the best experience of my life! I really hope i get this opportunity again, but it was a privilege to see a genius such as Paul Costelloe show the world he's not just a strict tailored designer, but a Man who is not scared to experiment with textures, materials, shapes and designs.
Paul Costelloe Your Are AMAZING!!!

Crocs... Fashion Foe Or Fashion Friend?
There is only one item that has dominated all summer and nope it’s not the horrendous British weather...! Crocs are sold in more than 125 countries worldwide in a range of different colours and styles. These shoes have become the pioneering item which are seen as "those comfy shoes to wear on holiday" OR WORSE just casually =|. From there light weight material and superior grip, these shoes have taken the world by storm!
Even celebs such as actor Adam Sandler, presenter Vernon Kay and Nicole Appleton have all been sporting the latest craze!
You can even buy "Jibbetz", which are shoe charms! I mean Links Charm bracelet YES PLEASE... Not charms for Crocs?! Who would have thought Crocs would have taken over the World?! They're array of colours, reasonable prices and not forgetting their comfort is what has helped establish the Crocs into a world wide "must have".
While holidaying in Florida in 2008, I had discovered this invention and I could not believe how many people actually had them, especially adults... they even had the Jibbetz! As I wondered through Magic Kingdom, I thought could this get any worse?!
Soon as I headed back to the UK every where I wondered, it felt as if the Crocs had taken over my life they were literally EVERYWHERE! To top this off , I have only discovered that Crocs have invented a BOOT!!! What happened to good old fashioned wellies?!
As much as I despise this creation (its social suicide!), I'll say one thing Crocs have shown me that even the most aesthetically displeasing item around can also prove us fashionistas wrong and be a best seller...
Well Done Croc Creators!

Geek Chic? YES PLEASE..
Fashion has taken a new twist this year as many of our fave celebs are dressing like NERDS!! Who would have thought the group of people that were the bottom of the social chain branded as science geeks and comic book freaks would be top of the class in the latest fashion craze?! Geek Chic has taken the world by storm even our fave celebs are brave enough to show the world they're Geeks and Proud!
Celebs such as Kanye West, Jay Z, John Legend and even the Nerd of all time America Ferrera aka Ugly Betty have rocked out the Nerd look and man do they look HOT! So what does this mean? Has fashion evolved to make geeks cool? I feel that the way fashion has progressed over the years it is easy to see that geek chic is definitely the best thing to hit the scene. The stereotypical view of how hanging around with geeks is "social suicide" has now changed and they have hit the fashion scene with a BANG!
The best way to go about this look is to get the perfect pair of glasses; people who insist on cutting out the lens from 3d glasses... DON'T DO IT! You can find a cheap pair from Primark for £2 or a really good pair for about £12 from Topman; brick lane and even Urban outfitters have a range of different types of glasses! Also Odeon charge you for the glasses now, therefore with this recession and credit crunch you got to save your dollars people! =) Usually the glasses will set off any outfit but if you want to go all out then here's a few tips as on how to achieve the best look:
Once you have your glasses, invest in a jumper vest or a cardigan and as clashing is very in all year around remember to clash! Prints with bright colors will work great as well as prints over prints add emphasis to the outfits i.e strips and hearts or ditsy flower prints and monochrome/metallic.
Next you need to invest in some oxford shoes... Yes that's right brogues are in yet again and will look amazing if you want to achieve the geek chic look. But they'll look just as HOT with some high waisted or tapered leg trousers with a plain top and a boyfriend blazer. Which means you can get the best of both! Tapered leg trousers with white socks will add to the "geekyness" of your look. However the trousers without the socks will give you a smart look if worn with statement heels, a lace body, minimal jewelery and a statement clutch!
Adding little bits like a bow tie (which clashes of course) along with duck tape around the glasses will set off the geek look as well as a satchel for all your belongings! And remember girls, pigtails with a quiff will set the outfit off & Guys just gel/wax your hair with a slight parting... Your Swagger will be on POINT!! ;)
I feel this is the best revolution to happen in fashion, I mean who would have thought all those years of being ridiculed at school will make Geeks the fashion icons of the year?!
NERDS & GEEKS YOU ROCK!!!!

Music Is My Muse...
Music ---> The art of arranging sounds in time to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. I believe that music is an important factor of life, i can't even imagine life without it =|.
From Rock to Hip Hop, Indie to Slow Jams.. MUSIC IS GOD! Ever since a child, I have always had a love for music.. I mean its one of the first things we encounter; plus these days the media plays a big part in this. A cousin of mine learned how to dance to Akon's Smack That... He wasn't even 1 years old LOL!
Bands such as The Beetles & The Rolling Stones Not Forgetting Notorious B.I.G, Tupac & RUN DMC have been a heavy influence on today's music. I can well and truly say I'm proud to be growing up in a time where artists such as Lady Gaga, DRAKE ( who i absolutely LOVE.. if he reads this.. CALL ME), Jay Z AKA HOVE AKA THE GOD OF MUSIC & Not forgetting Lil Wayne have made a HUGE impact on the music scene today.
I've heard many of my friends talk about how Tupac and Biggie have had a heavy impact on their lives. Both were lyrical geniuses & because of their determination it's made many artists especially Black artists break through to the music scene and do what they Love..
For me Drake & Jay Z are BIG influences to my life. Drakes lyrics are mind blowing he can Sing, Act, Rap & Look SO HOT IN A SUIT =). i shall be patiently waiting to see him in concert, which reminds me.. YOU NEED MORE UK TOUR DATES!!! Drakes mix tapes have made millions, His music is now known worldwide thanks to the power of youtube as well as this his recent album Thank Me Later went Platinum before its release! His music is soulful and edgy and by having Lil Wayne as a mentor has helped Drake to establish his own sounds which in return help fans to make his music personal and wanting more.
Jay Z is the musical God Of This Era. His lyrics are just outstanding, apart from this he can work a crowd.. Wireless, 4th July 2010 will always be one of my greatest memories as I got to witness an Artist like Jay Z put on a phenomenal show! Being in the presence of such a Genius was an absolute honor and i would LOVE to see him again!
The UK's Asian music scene has seen a big change. Jay Sean has broke through the stereotypical barrier by becoming a world wide star after being signed to Cash Money records. Like Tupac and Biggie have helped to evolve Black music, I feel that Jay Sean's break into the Worldwide scene has helped new up and coming artists such as Rishi Rich's Mumzy Stranger.
Music is and always will be a big part of life, I believe it's Genre's help society come together and make the world go round. Life without music would make the world a boring place, People who sometimes can't find the words to express their inner state of mind will always turn to music...

Vintage Vs High Street Labels Vs Designers... You Decide!!
The ever changing world of Fashion is what makes the world go round. I mean everyday there's a new craze, whether it be Harem Pants or Tartan checks, there's always something new. Working in the retail industry, I see many customers who are after the latest craze to relate to their fave celebrity. Not all celebs are glamed up in Christian Dior, Vera Wang, Jimmy Choo or Vivien Westwood. Many celebs such as Fern Cotton and Alexa Chung dress in Topshop and Urban Outfitters... Not the Crem da la Crem of High Fashion, But these two icons can defo work it!
Take for instance, Lady Gaga. She is know for her flamboyant dress sense, which to some can just be weird, but to others a symbol of individuality. Her big bows and luscious locks are key to most of her appearance as well as her makeup. Even Celebrities Such as Rhianna and Christina Aguilera and even Kelly Rowland are dressing to be noticed. This is a big shift to how many women aspired to be the "Marylin Monroe" of the 20th century, but it seems like Lady Gaga is the new Fashionista of the 21st Century.
Personally i would not dare dress so extravagant, as there is a little part of me thinking.. "Hmmm what would my mother say", but i can not dismiss how she can pull of every look that she has ever tried. WELL DONE GAGA!
So what does this mean? do we need to dress like this to be noticed? I believe that even though Fashion is ever changing, it all comes down to the persons own personal touches. Vintage and Newness can work amazingly well together, mixing up brands with garments and key pieces you can find in Camden Market or Brick Lane will also add emphasis to your look.
However wearing items that are all from the same shop can be a bit tricky for example males and their Ed Hardy Hype! I was on my break the other day at work and in the distance I see a male about my age wearing head to toe in Ed Hardy... Now that is just plain wrong, therefore key pieces like a belt or a hat could have worked well with some simple jeans and a plain white tee.. But this guy took it further even his jeans had the Ed Hardy label stamped on the back a definite Fashion NO NO! Minimal is KEY!
Since moving to the Fashion Capital, that is London Town; i have discovered a huge range of people walking the streets. One saying comes to mind, "If you got it, flaunt it". I've seen males dress in pieces that id find in Topshop! I've even seen males asking if a Boyfriend blazer looks good on them! But in all fairness they want to be noticed not for the bad, but for the good; therefore the latest trend is a defo key, but also remember to mix it up with a few vintage items... it will always set the outfit off.
If i was to choose between vintage, High street labels and Designers; i would defiantly mix it up. I mean its all about individuality... that's what makes the world go round!

Im So New To This!!
Blogs can be quite interesting to read, so i thought hmm why not start my own? I mean Blogs are like the new Facebook or Twitter; you can express how you feel! Hopefully my writing can take a whole new level on the Fashion front as I aspire to be a Fashion Journalist... Not the typical Indian thing... but i guess us young ones can break the stereotypical chain of Doctors and Business Management graduates right?.....
